Thanks Sas for tagging me. I feel so popularrgh. She's tagged me to do this meme, which I am doing at work while procrastinating about a story I'm stuck on. So naughty.


What is your current obsession? Being warm. I seem to be always just that little bit too cold. And I'm hankering for hot cup of tea that tastes good - I have a cold and my tastebuds have left for sunnier climes. Oh, and I am loving Google Maps - I've been checking out backyards in Bhutan, London, and Kenya.
What is your weirdest obsession? I used to have a weird obsession with all things New York. I got that out of my system by actually going there.
What are you wearing today? The ubiquitous red scarf, black skirt, tights, boots, tawny vest. I look like a grown up.
What's for dinner? Whatever the Postie is rustling up. Poor man.
What would you eat for your last meal? It would be a vast cheese and cream laden affair. I'd start with a kir royale, an entree of the Asian lamb and polenta dish Mondo Cucina used to do in the mid 90s, then progress to a big plate of gratin Dauphinoise, a perfectly cooked eye fillet smothered in sauce Bearnaise and some dark delicious jus. Somewhere along the line there would be salmon and some Roquefort.
What's the last thing you bought? A three-pack of bodysuits for the kid. He's finally growing out of 6-9 month clothing now he's nearly 16-months-old.
What are you listening to right now? The dull drone of the newsroom. Radio NZ's 1pm bulletin in the background. Reporters gossipping in the kitchen. The rustle of newspapers. Me yawning.
What do you think of the person who tagged you? Sas is someone I've not met yet, but I've met already. You know?
If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be? Upper East Side New York, right by the park. It's warm there right now I believe.
If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? That street in Paris where all the fromageries were, near le Marais.
Which language do you want to learn? Baby, but I'll settle for French.
What is your favorite colour? Red.
What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe? The indefatigable pink cardi.
What is your dream job? I actually have my dream job. No, really. But if I had the talent I'd be a full time novellist who was very rich and adored everywhere she went.
What's your favourite magazine? You would think this would be easy for a journalist to answer - but there are too many good ones. I used to really love The Guardian's Weekend mag, and I'd really love to read that and the New York Times mag in the flesh.
If you had £100 now, what would you spend it on? I'd take my honey out for a flash feed.
Describe your personal style: jeans, slightly manky tops, trainers. In summer, red stripey jandals, in winter, red scarf.
What are you going to do after this? Finish a story on Te Whare Tu Taua o Aotearoa - the NZ school of Maori weaponry. I'm really pleased with it but it needs a bit more polishing. Or I might get cracking on a cafe review due tomorrow that I am going to have to be diplomatic about.
What are your favourite films? Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Thin Red Line, the Airplane movies, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Amelie.
What's your favourite fruit? Bananas, mangos, raspberries.
Who is the most famous person you've ever seen in the flesh: Jennifer Aniston, Times Square, 1997 - she was walking down the street with her then-partner Tate Donovan and a bunch of other people, or Lance Armstrong during the 2001 Tour de France.
Your favourite books? Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood and 1984 by George Orwell are my top reads. I also really enjoyed English Passengers and The Life of Pi.
Do you collect anything? Snowglobes, Crown Lynn 'Vintage' pattern and tacky stuff from my travels.
What are you currently reading? The Sea by John Banville which I'm really enjoying.
